Sanierungsstau an Mannheimer Schulen wird abgebaut
Wo seit wenigen Tagen wieder Lehrer und Schüler gefordert sind, wurde bis zum letzten Ferientag noch gehämmert, geschraubt oder verputzt: Die Sommerferien werden traditionell genutzt, um Schulgebäude der Stadt zu sanieren. „Wir haben die Investitionen in den Schulbau in den letzten fünf Jahren deutlich erhöht“, so Oberbürgermeister Dr. Peter Kurz. Wurden von 2003 bis 2007 noch rund 52 Millionen Euro in den Schulbau investiert, so lag diese Zahl für den Zeitraum von 2008 bis 2012 bereits bei knapp 90 Millionen Euro. Auch die Mittel für die Bauunterhaltung wurden um fast 25 Prozent erhöht, von 15,7 Millionen auf 21 Millionen Euro. „Wir arbeiten mit großem Engagement daran, den Sanierungsstau an den Mannheimer Schulen abzubauen“, so Kurz. Dies sei in den letzten fünf Jahren in erheblichem Umfang gelungen.
Bildungsbürgermeisterin Dr. Ulrike Freundlieb ergänzt: „Der Ausbau der Ganztagesschulen und der Schulkindbetreuung, die Verbesserung von Brandschutz oder Barrierefreiheit an Schulen werden mit höchster Priorität behandelt.“ Ab August 2014 werden zudem alle Mannheimer Schulen von der BBS Bau und Betriebsservice GmbH bewirtschaftet; bereits heute werden 59 Schulen von der BBS betreut. „Wir erreichen hier eine enorme qualitative Verbesserung und stellen sicher, dass ein Sanierungsstau, wie wir ihn derzeit abbauen, überhaupt nicht mehr entstehen kann“, so Freundlieb.
Aktuelle Sanierungsprojekte der Stadt Mannheim an ihren Schulen
Aktuell besuchten Kurz und Freundlieb das Karl-Friedrich-Gymnasiums (KFG) und besichtigten die Sanierungsfortschritte an der 1899 gebauten Schule. Das Gebäude wird seit 2009 in fünf Bauabschnitten bis 2015 für die bisher genehmigten zwölf Millionen Euro generalsaniert, außerdem wird das denkmalgeschützte Gebäude nach der Sanierung barrierefrei sein.
Für 2013 werden ca. 24 Millionen Euro in den Schulausbau investiert
Auch die Sandhofenschule zählt zu den aktuellen Großprojekten, wenn es um Schulsanierungen geht. Das Gebäude wird seit 2012 von der BBS bewirtschaftet. Bis 2017 wird neben den Sanierungsarbeiten an Fassaden und Klassenräumen beispielsweise auch ein Neubau für den Ganztagsbetrieb der Realschule fertig gestellt. Insgesamt werden an diesem Schulstandort etwa 16 Millionen Euro für den Zeitraum von 2009 bis 2017 investiert.
Nach knapp 15 Monaten Bauzeit konnte nun auch der barrierefreie Neubau des Klassen- und Fachklassengebäudes des Peter- Petersen-Gymnasiums (PPG) beendet werden. Im Auftrag der Stadt Mannheim ist im Rahmen der Rochade Schönau der Neubau des Klassen- und Fachklassengebäudes pünktlich durch die BBS Bau und Betriebsservice GmbH realisiert worden. Dieses Objekt ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil in der Sanierung und des Ausbaus des PPG zur Ganztagsschule. Die Stadt Mannheim hat für den Standort Peter-Petersen-Gymnasium Investivkosten in Höhe von 20,45 Millionen Euro genehmigt.
Beispiele wie das KFG, die Sandhofenschule oder das PPG zeigen, dass die Stadt mithilfe der BBS kontinuierlich daran arbeitet, den über mehrere Jahrzehnte aufgelaufenen Unterhaltungsstau in Schulgebäuden aufzuheben. Allein 2013 werden fast 24 Millionen Euro in den Schulbau investiert; hinzu kommen 8,6 Millionen Euro, die die BBS in die Bauunterhaltung steckt.
